Save the Kitchen!!

Many of you who know me, know I work in the Music Industry at The Sound Kitchen recording studios. I have worked there pretty much my entrie professional career. In the past 14 years I have seen many things and met such wonderful people. Well It seems that the owner of the studio has decided that its not in his business plan to own a studio. This point is for another post! and how it came to this is also for that same post. What is relavent is that the bank now owns us and if we can’t find another owner by Friday, they will have to close us down until they find another owner.

I can’t began to tell you the mass emotions that run through my head. In 14 years I have devoted my life to a place, an idea, a concept, a life style and to relationships that mean more to me then losing a job. I moved to Nashville because of this studio. I soon found this place to be more then a job site, but a family. Maybe it was the endless hours spent as an intern there and then eventually a staff assistant, or maybe it was seeing it grow to be one of the biggest studios in Nashville. I don’t know how or when but it has become my home, my life, my family. Not the building or the name, but the countless faces that run through my head now and give me plenty to be thankful for .If it was not for my time here I would not have met my wife. My good friend Crystal introduced me to Kelly some three years ago, and without whom I could not get through this. I guess for me this place has never been a job, its been my life, my hobby, my love. I know business is business and life will go on, but I can’t help to look back at 14 years of my life without some sort of recognition to all those that have meant so much. To you, I say Thank You.

This business that  we are in, the Music Business, is a tough one. For some reason we seem to have lost that sence of family, that friendship, that made us want to get in the business to begin with. I guess in the end this is the most frustrating part of all of this. In the past few years that has changed and become more self-serving. I have one final plea, Save the Kitchen. If not for any of us, but for an idea that maybe we can all remember what a community, a family this town once was.
